IT support in Totnes
Totnes is a small town, and an IT provider in a small town hears things. The working rule is plain: client matters are not repeated. Not on the high street, not to another customer, and not as a colourful example of a problem we once saw.
What the size of the town changes
People know each other. A director and a member of their staff may both be in the same shop on a Saturday. That is a reason to be careful about where a conversation happens, and about who is copied on a note. If a matter should not be discussed in front of the whole team — a suspected account problem, a leaver, a financial file — say so when you book the visit. We will arrange the room and the timing accordingly.

The high street and converted rooms
Fore Street, the High Street and the rooms over them are one pattern of work. Independent businesses, small practices, studios, and offices in converted buildings. The wireless is often the whole network. The cable routes were never designed. Power and data share a cupboard with everything else the building could not quite throw away.
A design for these rooms is usually modest: a cable where a desk must not drop, wireless that reaches the room people actually use, guest access that stops at the internet, and a note the owner can follow when we are not there. We will say when that is enough.
Babbage Road
The industrial estate at Babbage Road is the other Totnes. It carries a large share of the town’s jobs: making, trade, food, and family firms whose systems have grown by addition. The office may be a small room off a workshop. The machine that matters may be the one that runs the machinery, the accounts, or the orders, and it may be older than the rest of the fleet.
We do not arrive with a plan to standardise everything onto one new stack. We ask which machine, if it stopped, would stop the week. That is the one we document first, back up first, and touch last.
The rest of the South Hams
Dartington, and places further off such as Dartmouth or Kingsbridge, are not given pages of their own. Work beyond Totnes is taken by arrangement on this line. The circuit, the distance, and whether we can attend when it matters decide it. If we cannot support a premises properly, we will say so. A village named in passing is not a promise of a presence.
A smaller design
A smaller organisation does not need a smaller standard of care. It often needs a smaller design. Many Totnes firms do not need a large managed arrangement. They need accounts looked after, a copy of the files that matter, and someone who will not sell a platform to justify a visit. Scope is matched to the firm. Where a fuller arrangement is actually warranted — several staff, a leaver process, a second site — we will say that too, and write it down.

Questions
- We are in Dartmouth or Kingsbridge. Which number applies?
There is no separate page. Totnes is the South Hams enquiry line: 01548 531530. Say where you are and what you need. Work outside Totnes is by arrangement.
- Our business is small. Will you try to sell a large managed contract?
The scope is matched to the organisation. For many Totnes firms that is a modest arrangement. We would rather say when a simpler setup is enough.
